Landry, a Republican, defeated Gwen Collins-Greenup in Saturday’s runoff to replace incumbent Kyle Ardoin, who did not seek re-election. Landry is a former state representative from Lafayette and has served in Ardoin’s office for four years. Landry will be tasked with replacing Louisiana’s outdated voting machines, which do not produce paper ballots critical to ensuring accurate election results. Murrill, a Republican, currently works in the Attorney General’s Office. He defeated an attorney in Democrat Lindsay Cheek to fill the seat vacated by Jeff Landry, who won the Louisiana governor’s race. Washington Parish has a new sheriff. Jason Smith won Saturday’s runoff election, ousting longtime Sheriff Randy “Country” Seal. Seale was first elected sheriff in 2011 and has been a parish deputy for 18 years. Smith is retired from the Marine Corps and now runs a ranch near the Mississippi state line. Smith has led Marines at every rank in his career, including two combat tours in Iraq. Sticker Elected Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff: Click here for full results Former Mandeville Police Chief Gerald Sticker was elected Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff. Sticker defeated fellow Republican Chris Gideon in Saturday’s runoff. Sticker has conducted operations involving more than 400 officers and a military leader with combat zone experience.
