Current Super Bowl 58 ticket prices are the most expensive in sports history – NBC Sports Bay Area & California

The 49ers will be making their eighth Super Bowl appearance when they prepare to face the Kansas City Chiefs on Feb. 11 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Tickets hit historic numbers on Monday from at least one secondary-market site, posting the most expensive ticket prices in Super Bowl history (h/t). Associated Press)

TickPick's average price was $9,815 Monday morning — nearly double the final average price of $5,795 for last year's game between the Chiefs and Chiefs. Philadelphia Eagles at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

Despite concerns about whether Sin City can attract sports fans to the entertainment capital of the world, it's clear fans aren't shying away from the bright lights in the desert.

“Location has always influenced demand for a Super Bowl, but Vegas takes things to a different level,” Digbig co-CEO Brett Goldberg said in a statement to The Associated Press. “It's already the entertainment capital of the world, and it could become the sports capital of the world after the Super Bowl.

“Since both teams have made at least one Super Bowl appearance in the last five years, we expect some fatigue from fans, which in turn will drive prices down. Instead, we see demand at record highs and fans wanting their team to win a Super Bowl in Vegas.”

That's more than the previous record price of $7,046 for a 2021 game between Tom Brady's Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Chiefs at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. Covid-19 restrictions allowed the stadium to remain at 33 percent capacity, increasing demand for every ticket.

TickPick's most expensive non-Covid Super Bowl is the 49ers and Chiefs — head-to-head in 2020 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens — with an average price of $6,370.

After a remarkable 34-31 victory over the Detroit Lions in Sunday's NFC Championship Game, the 49ers head to Super Bowl LVIII to face the AFC-champion Chiefs. San Francisco's 31-20 loss to Kansas City in 2020 leaves many more in its current locker room poking fun.

The 49ers and Chiefs both clinched their respective conference championships on Sunday, sending Kansas City NFL MVP favorite Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens home with a 17-10 road victory.

After back-to-back wins in the first two NFL playoff games this postseason, the 49ers punched their ticket to the Super Bowl for a repeat of their devastating Super Bowl LIV loss four years ago.

The 49ers faithful have been known to travel far from Levi's Stadium, but it seems fans have to dig deep into their pockets to support their teams in person.
