The feud between members of the innovative alternative rock band Jane’s Addiction came amid “tension and animosity” during their reunion tour, lead singer Perry Farrell’s wife said Saturday. The band is known for their hard-hitting, punk-inspired hits like “Caught Stealing” and “The alternative rock and grunge music movements that were growing in the late 1980s and early 1990s.” Navarro is seen holding out his right hand to shoo Pharrell away before being dragged away by the others on stage. Perry’s frustration grew as the night went on and he felt his voice was being drowned out by the band. Etty LaFarrell wrote in an Instagram post on Saturday morning that her husband was suffering from tinnitus and a sore throat, and that “by the end of the song, he wasn’t singing, he was just audibly screaming.” The band’s “Instant Recovery” tour kicked off in early August and has 15 dates remaining, including a show Sunday night in Connecticut. As the alternative rock and grunge music movements grew in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the band became known for hard-hitting, punk-inspired hits such as “Bean Got Stealing” and “Mountain Song”.

In videos posted on social media from Friday night’s concert in Boston, Pharrell, 65, can be seen singing loudly into his mic, then lunging at guitarist Dave Navarro and bumping Navarro with his shoulder before swinging at him with his right arm. Navarro is seen holding out his right hand to keep Pharrell away before Pharrell is dragged away by others on stage. The show was over in no time.
“Berry’s frustration grew as night after night he realized the stage was too loud and his voice was being drowned out by the band,” Eddie Love Farrell wrote in an Instagram post Saturday morning.
She said her husband was suffering from tinnitus and a sore throat, and “by the end of the song, he wasn’t singing, he was shouting to be heard.” Her husband then “cried and cried,” she said.
The band’s “Instant Rescue” tour kicked off in early August and has 15 more dates, including a show in Connecticut on Sunday night.
The band has yet to make any statement regarding the future of the tour.
