Renée Zellweger is set to reprise her favorite role Bridget Jones In the upcoming fourth installment of the popular film franchise.
The two-time Oscar winner will star in “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy,” according to a news release. Based on the best-selling film by author Helen Fielding Novel under the same name.
Hugh Grant, who played Daniel Cleaver in 2001's “Bridget Jones's Diary” and the 2004 sequel “Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason,” returns to the franchise to star alongside Zellweger in “Mad About the Boy.”
Grant did did not appear The third installment of the franchise, in 2016 “Bridget Jones's Baby” Although his character is part of the story of the film.
Also returning to the franchise is Emma Thompson — who appeared as Dr. Rawlings in “Bridget Jones's Baby” and gained notoriety as a writer on that film — along with franchise newcomers Chiwetel Ejiofer and “White Lotus” star Leo Woodall.

Zellweger was nominated for a leading actress Oscar in 2002 for her role in “Bridget Jones's Diary,” before winning in 2004 for “Cold Mountain” and in 2020 for “Judy.”
The first film introduced Jones, a troubled news assistant who usually holds a confessional while navigating the trials and tribulations of love, career and life.
Fielding's novel “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy” picks up Jones' Mark Darcy 14 years later – starring Academy Award winner Colin Firth. Official summary of the book.
“To Leslie” director Michael Morris is attached to direct the new film, with Fielding serving as an executive producer and Miramax co-financing the project.
“Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy” opens in theaters internationally and in the US at the Peacock on February 14, 2025.
